To commemorate its 150th anniversary, ASCE introduces Me, Myself and Infrastructure: Private Lives and Public Works in America, a project that tells the story of a thirsty, car-crazy nation. Through a series of related exhibitions and programs, Me, Myself and Infrastructure explores the relationship of the public to the civil engineering networks that define modern life.
Me, Myself and Infrastructure: Private Lives and Public Works in America will surprise audiences by revealing that their lives and their infrastructure are inseparable. There's infrastructure in your living room, in your cup of morning coffee and on top of your desk.
The network of pipes, beams and roadways tells only the beginning of a 150-year-old story of civil engineering design. Whether we know it or not, each of us works with civil engineers to build our health, safety, and happiness.
The exhibit helps define civil engineering by asking questions like "Is it safe?" "Why so big?" and "How long will it last?" These and other questions are explored in the exhibit.
