The authors of ASCE’s books and journals come from all walks of engineering: universities, research centers, private firms and consulting companies, and government agencies at all levels. As teachers, researchers, and practitioners, they are dedicated to the advancement of the civil engineering profession. Authors choose ASCE publications because they know their work will benefit from thorough peer review, receive professional attention during copyediting and composition, and ultimately reach the readers who need the content from the source they trust the most.
ASCE publishes 60 books and CD-ROMs each year and maintains a backlist of more than 1,000 titles, available in print or electronic versions. Explore the possibilities for sharing your knowledge with your engineering colleagues through one of our book product lines..
ASCE Press publishes carefully chosen, thought-provoking books written by leading authorities to enhance the technical knowledge and professional development of engineers. ASCE Press contracts with individual authors, who initiate the process by submitting a proposal. Proposals and draft manuscript are each peer reviewed, and authors receive royalties on par with commercial publishers.
Standards provide technical guidelines for promoting safety, reliability, productivity and efficiency across all areas of civil engineering. All Standards are developed by a consensus process managed by the Codes and Standards Activity Committee.
Proceedings collect papers presented at ASCE-sponsored conferences and report on current research and practice in all areas of civil engineering. Papers become available for individual download from the ASCE Library after the conference.
Manuals of Practice present in-depth technical information on a specific topic, and provide detailed analysis of the limitations and applications of the described methods and technologies. Manuals of Practice must be prepared by committees under the direction of an ASCE division, council, or institute and published with the approval of the appropriate executive committee.
Committee Reports are prepared by the technical and professional committees of ASCE and present the application of cutting-edge technologies for a wide spectrum of topics. Approval by the appropriate division, council, or institute executive committee is required for publication.
