Thomas Wakeman M.ASCE, has a doctorate in Engineering-Science (Eng.Sc.D.) He is a Fellow in PIANC (F.PIANC), Distinguished Diplomate Navigation Engineering (Dist.D.NE.) and Distinguished Diplomate Port Engineering (Dist.D.PE.) from COPRI. He is a Research Professor in the Department of Civil, Environmental, and Ocean Engineering, the Deputy Director of the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) National of Center of Excellence for Port Security (Center for Secure and Resilient Maritime Commerce) and the Deputy Director of the Center for Maritime Systems in the Charles Schaefer School of Engineering and Science at Stevens Institute of Technology, Hoboken, New Jersey. Previously Dr. Wakeman was employed with the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey for 14 years and with the United States Army Corps of Engineers, San Francisco and Sacramento Districts, for over 23 years. Dr. Wakeman has extensive experience in navigation, port development, security, and freight transportation planning.
