J. Manuel Padilla, Ph.D., is the president of Geotechnical Consulting & Testing Systems (GCTS) where he is involved in software development, design, manufacturing, and set-up of specialized asphalt, soil and rock closed-loop computer-controlled testing systems. He has worked as a project engineer in the structural design of steel and concrete buildings. He was the senior engineer for Structural Behavior Engineering Laboratories in charge of development and design of testing systems for six years. He also consults on general geotechnical problems, including slope stability, foundation engineering, and earthquake engineering. Padilla is an Adjunct Professor in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering, Arizona State University, serving on dissertation committees for doctoral students and conducting research on unsaturated soil behavior, general soil mechanics and geotechnical earthquake engineering. Dr. Padilla has published more than 12 papers for internationally recognized journals and conferences.
