Meet Your Instructors

Mark McGinley is a structural engineer who has taught and prepared engineers pass the S.E. exam over 5 years. He has taught structural wood design for a number of years. He is an expert in masonry building systems, specializing in masonry building envelopes. Mark is actively involved in the Masonry Society as Past Chair of the Design Practices Committee, a member of the Research Committee, the Board of Directors and the Code and Standards Committee. Mark is author of all five editions of the Masonry Designers Guide. He is Professor and Endowed Chair of Infrastructure Research, Civil and Environmental Engineering, University of Louisville. Mark is a P.E. and has over 20 years of research and forensic engineering practice in building systems.

Richard Miller is a structural engineer who has helped engineers  prepare and pass the S.E. exam for over 5 years. His main research focus is on large scale testing of prestressed/precast concrete bridges with a focus on concrete materials. The results of Dr. Miller’s research have been used to justify changes to the AASHTO LRFD Bridge Specifications. Between 1998 and 2007, he chaired the Prestressed/Precast High Performance Concrete Committee. He is a faculty member in the area of structural engineering and civil engineering materials at the University of Cincinnati. He is a registered professional engineer.

Terry Weigel has over 15 years of experience in teaching and preparing engineers pass the S.E. exam. He is a registered structural engineer and a former member of The Masonry Society, ASTM Committees C-12 and C-15, the Masonry Standards Joint Committee. He is the primary author of the 4th and 5th Editions of the Masonry Designers’ Guide. Terry holds a Ph.D. in Civil Engineering and is a P.E. license as well as an S.E. license. Dr. Weigel is a Professor Emeritus, Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering, University of Louisville.

Michael Wenning has helped prepare engineers to pass the S.E. exam over 5 years. During his career, he has been involved in over 400 bridge rehabilitation and widening projects as well as the design of over 100 new and replacement bridges in Indiana, Ohio and Wisconsin. These include concrete structures, reinforced concrete slabs, prestressed box, I-beam and bulb-tee bridges, steel beam and girder bridges including curved structures. He is a professional engineer and a fellow member of ASCE. He works as the Director of Transportation Services with GAI Consultants.
