NewFaces2012

Salute Promising Young Professional Engineers –
Nominate a 'New Face' for 2013 Recognition by Oct. 19

Do you work with or know a civil engineer who's 30 or under, yet is already making a name for himself or herself? Does this individual show the potential for a long and distinguished career in the profession and a commitment to excellence in everything he or she does? If so, nominate him or her for ASCE’s 2013 New Faces of Civil Engineering–Professionals recognition program. If chosen, in addition to being named one of ASCE's 10 young civil engineering professionals to watch, your nominee may be selected for the distinction of being recognized as a New Face of Engineering by the National Engineers Week Foundation.

This year marks the 10th anniversary of the New Faces recognition program. Nomination for ASCE's New Faces recognition program is open to young ASCE members who have completed their undergraduate degrees. The program promotes the accomplishments of these promising engineers by highlighting their engineering contributions, leadership abilities and noting the direct and positive effect they have on people’s everyday lives. The campaign promotes the profession of engineering by:
• Showcasing and honoring a diverse group of young and talented engineers who are making a difference through their work, in a profession that is innovative, forward thinking and open to everyone.
• Introducing college engineering students to inspiring engineers in hopes of encouraging them to explore the many career options their engineering degrees open up for them, as well as encouraging high school students to study engineering in college.
• Providing role models for engineering students to help them understand the global reach of their profession.

ASCE will be accepting nominations for New Faces of Civil Engineering–Professional Edition from the civil engineering community through Friday, Oct. 19. Nominees must be ASCE members age 30 or under as of Dec. 31, 2012. ASCE will select and forward the names of the top five nominees to the National Engineers Week Foundation, which will choose one nominee from each of the engineering disciplines represented and announce their names during Engineers Week, Feb. 17-23, 2013. The ASCE representative's photo will appear with the others in a full-page ad in USA Today, and the honoree's distinction will be highlighted in other ways, including possible feature profiles in engineering trade publications.
