Could You Be the Next Professional 'New Face' of Civil Engineering?

 New Faces Professional 2013

Salute Promising Young Professional Engineers –
Nominate a 'New Face' for 2014 Recognition by Oct. 18

Do you work with or know a civil engineer who's 30 or under, yet is already making a name for himself or herself? Does this individual show the potential for a long and distinguished career in the profession and a commitment to excellence in everything he or she does? If so, nominate him or her for ASCE’s 2014 New Faces of Civil Engineering–Professionals recognition program. If chosen, in addition to being named one of ASCE's 10 young civil engineering professionals to watch, your nominee may be selected for the distinction of being recognized as a New Face of Engineering by the National Engineers Week Foundation.

Now in its 11th year, the New Faces of Engineering recognition program continues to open nominations annually to young ASCE members who have completed their undergraduate degrees. The program promotes the accomplishments of these promising engineers by highlighting their engineering contributions, leadership abilities and noting the direct and positive effect they have on people’s everyday lives. The campaign promotes the profession of engineering by:
• Showcasing and honoring a diverse group of young and talented engineers who are making a difference through their work, in a profession that is innovative, forward thinking and open to everyone.
• Introducing students and the general public to inspiring engineers in hopes of building awareness about what has often been referred to as the "stealth profession" and encouraging interest in learning more about engineering as an exciting career field.
• Providing role models for engineering students to help them understand the global reach of their profession.

ASCE will be accepting nominations for New Faces of Civil Engineering–Professional Edition from the civil engineering community through Friday, Oct. 18, 2013. Nominees must be ASCE members age 30 or under as of Dec. 31, 2013. ASCE will select and forward the names of the top five nominees to the National Engineers Week Foundation, which will choose one nominee from each of the engineering disciplines represented and announce their names during Engineers Week, Feb. 16 - 22, 2014. The ASCE representative's photo will appear with the others in a full-page ad in a national media outlet, and the honoree's distinction will be highlighted in other ways, including possible feature profiles in engineering trade publications. This year's New Faces will be hailed as ambassadors of the profession and will be invited to participate as available in national outreach or community-building events, such as virtual panels or forums for undergraduates, webinars, or sponsored travel to national Engineers Week events.
