Kristina Swallow, P.E., M.ASCE
Kristina Swallow started AVP Consulting, Inc., a civil engineering
and consulting firm providing services to clients throughout Southern
Nevada in 2004. AVP focuses on providing flood control, air quality and
transportation studies for engineering and architecture firms.
Kristina is a past Region 8 Governor, Past President of the
Southern Nevada Younger Member Forum, the Southern Nevada Branch and
the Nevada Section. At the Society level, Kristina has served on the
ASCE 150th Anniversary Steering Committee; as a corresponding member of
the Committee on Younger Members; as the chairman of the ASCE Committee
on Diversity and Women in Civil Engineering; and is currently serving
on the Educational Activities Committee.
In 2008 she was recognized by ASCE with the Edmund Friedman Young
Engineer Award for Professional Achievement. She has been previously
recognized as the 1998 Southern Nevada Branch Young Engineer of the
Year, the 2001 Western Regional Younger Member Council Young Engineer
of the Year - Private Sector, the 2005 University of Arizona Civil
Engineering Department Distinguished Young Alumnus and most recently as
an ASCE Citizen Engineer.
In addition to her professional work and activities within ASCE she
actively participates in community organizations. She is a member and
past president of the Junior League of Las Vegas women's service
organization; a volunteer and founding member of the DJ's for PJ's
program that collects pajamas for local kids in need; past chairman of
the Nevada Partnership for Homeless youth; a host family to an exchange
student in the 2003-2004 year; and is the current local coordinator for
the AFS - High School Foreign Exchange Program. She is a founding
member of the Nevada Community Foundation Community Conference, which
was established to bring a democratic process to philanthropic giving.
Kristina is a graduate of the University of Arizona with a BSCE and the University of Nevada, Las Vegas with a MSCE.
She loves to travel and, in her spare time, she took up running a
couple of years ago and recently completed her first marathon. She is
married to Dave, a civil engineer. They are happy owners of 3 dogs and
2 cats.
