ASCE's Annual Legislative Fly-In

Every spring, ASCE holds its Legislative Fly-In Program in Washington, D.C, an intensive two-day program that provides participants with an inside look at the political process.

In 2012, over 160 ASCE members attended briefings on transportation authorization and natural hazards mitigation research, civil engineering issues pending in Congress.  Participants made visits to over 350 Congressional offices to educate and lobby elected officials and their staff on these issues.

Plan to attend the 2013 Legislative Fly-In, March 19-21

Any ASCE member interested in walking the halls of Capitol Hill and learning firsthand how policy is crafted would benefit from this program.  Information on attending the 2013 Legislative Fly-In will be available on this webpage in November 2012.

 Thanks for sharing your experiences!

Follow-up on Congressional Meetings

"Homework" Information for Legislative Fly-In attendees:

The ASCE Legislative Fly-In is not your typical conference!  You will work hard to learn about issues in Congress that affect the profession of civil engineering and then present those issues to your elected officials on Capitol Hill.  Engaging in a little advance “homework” to get familiar with these topics will help you feel more comfortable and also make you a better advocate for ASCE.
