Our nation's infrastructure crisis is widespread and well documented, with a price tag of $2.2 trillion over five years, according to data reflected in the American Society of Civil Engineers' (ASCE) 2009 Report Card for America's Infrastructure. This report distills thoughts presented in a series of executive summits, "Infrastructure Solutions Summit: Moving from Awareness to Action" and "The Challenges of Change: Applying Innovation and Knowledge to Solve the Nation's Infrastructure Challenges," on how best to address the root causes of neglect and decay of the nation's infrastructure.
