Qualifications of a Peer Reviewer:
A peer reviewer is an experienced, licensed professional engineer who is or recently was a senior manager of a public agency and is a member of ASCE. Reviewers have had a minimum of 15 years experience in public agency engineering, construction and/or maintenance, at least five of them in senior management. Reviewers are dedicated to improving the quality of engineering services and are active participants in professional societies, on licensure boards, and other civic or professional activities.
Benefits of Serving as a Peer Reviewer:
A peer reviewer receives reimbursement for travel, lodging, and meal expenses incurred by the review. However, reviewers are not reimbursed for their time, which they donate as a contribution to their profession. However, peer reviewers do benefit from their experience in many ways.
- Develop leadership skills.
- Expand knowledge of best practices.
- Develop communication skills.
- Learn new ways to approach public agency issues.
- Help colleagues increase their effectiveness.
- Serve the public interest and the civil engineering profession.
See what Peer Reviewers say about their experience.
