ASCE Headquarters Celebrates Engineers Week
ASCE staff in Reston celebrated Engineers Week in style with a week-long schedule of activities including: a field trip to the Dulles Rail Metro project, recognition of staff engineers at their all hall hands meeting, information sessions for non-engineers, competitions and more. The week ended with an Engineer the Perfect Sub Sandwich staff lunch where everyone showed off what they had learned during the week to engineer a winning sandwich!
Future City Finals in Washington DC
ASCE President Kathy Caldwell visited Washington DC to celebrate Engineers Week in the Nation’s Capital. As part of the Future City competition Kathy awarded middle school students from St. John Lutheran School in Rocheste,r Michigan with ASCE’s special Future City award: Most Innovative Design of Infrastructure Systems. Kathy also helped out testing high rise designs at the Discover Engineering Family Day at the National Building Museum.
Meet ASCE’s New Faces of Engineering for Engineers Week 2011. Jeremy Livermore appeared in a full page ad in USA Today along with other engineering discipline New Faces of Engineering for 2012.
Fun Resources

ASCE member volunteers gave away tons of fun civil engineering resources at events leading up to, during and after Engineers Week! Kids loved ASCE’s new bookmarks and stickers depicting some of the country’s most well known civil engineering landmarks and; showing students just how far a career in civil engineering will take them.

Engineers at the Mall
For the 10th consecutive year, Fresno Branch and the Student Chapter of ASCE at California State University-Fresno celebrated Engineers Week by participating in Engineers at the Mall. As the kids were busy building their structures, volunteers talked with them and their parents about the role of civil engineering and the amazing jobs that civil engineers do!
