2012 OPAL Logo 

The Outstanding Projects And Leaders (OPAL) Gala is the event at which the Society presents OPAL leadership awards (for people), Outstanding Civil Engineering Achievement (OCEA) awards (projects), Charles Pankow Award for Innovation (award for innovation), Henry L. Michel Award for Industry Advancement of Research (award for an individual who influences construction research) and ASCE Excellence in Journalism Award (award for journalists that advance the public's understanding of engineering).

This premier black-tie event, held in the Washington, D.C. metro area, annually brings together the most recognizable names in civil engineering.
