Maj. Gen. Joseph A. “Bud” Ahearn, US Air Force (ret), P.E. , M.ASCE, Chair, Industry Leaders Council, and Vice Chairman of CH2M HILL.
As vice chairman, Mr. Ahearn serves with the chairman-CEO in the governance and representation of the firm. Prior to being named vice chairman, he was Transportation Group president and directed the planning, business development, technology programs and operations for transportation projects worldwide.
Mr. Ahearn joined CH2M HILL in April 1992, and conducted strategic planning and positioning initiatives focused on advanced project delivery systems for industrial and federal clients. Early in 1993, Mr. Ahearn was assigned a staff leadership mission as vice president, Federal Programs. From January 1994 to January 1996, Mr. Ahearn was the Eastern Region manager, providing integrated services to public and private clients in the fields of water, environment, transportation, industrial facilities and related infrastructures.
Mr. Ahearn draws upon his 32 years of military program management experience. As a Major General in the U.S. Air Force, he directed the planning, financing, design, and construction of the Air Force’s $10 billion worldwide development program. He also directed the marketing, capital investment, research and development, and real estate management for the Air Force’s worldwide infrastructure valued at $150 billion. Finally, Mr. Ahearn was responsible for the Air Force’s first priority, war-fighting readiness.
