Specialty: Coastal Engineering
Billy L. Edge currently serves as head of the Coastal and Ocean Division of the Zachry Department of Civil Engineers at Texas A & M. His career began as a senior research physical scientist with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, and he has 25 years of combined academic experience with Clemson University and Texas A&M. Edge also has 15 years of consulting experience with Dames and Moore, Cubit Engineering, and Edge & Associates.
Dr. Edge is recognized internationally as an expert in coastal engineering and dredging technology. His research focuses on coastal hazards, hurricanes, erosion control, navigation and dredging.
He serves as the president of the Board of Directors for the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) Coasts, Oceans, Ports and Rivers Institutes, and also serves as director of the Haynes Coastal Engineering Laboratory. His previous positions within ASCE include secretary of the Coastal Engineering Research Council, Waterway, Port, Coastal and Ocean Division, and 24 years as member of the Coastal Engineering Research Board. He has also served as vice chair of the Marine Board of the Transportation Research Board/National Research Council and co-chair of the 2005 International Conference on Ocean Wave Measurement and Analysis Edge currently serves as president of Association of Coastal Engineers and director of the American Shore and Beach Preservation Association (ASBPA).
Edge has been honored with the ASCE International Coastal Engineering Award and the Morrough P. O'Brien Award from ASBPA and was named Marksman of the Year by

. He received both a bachelor's and master's degree in civil engineering from the Georgia Institute of Technology.
