Jimmy Galvez is a project engineer with Sherwood Design Engineers in San Francisco, CA.
An active member of ASCE and The Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers (SHPE), since his undergraduate days at California Polytechnic San Luis Obispo, Mr. Galvez is a well known and effective advocate for engineering student and professional engagement with professional societies.
At Cal Poly, he fostered his strong commitment to community by participating in events serving California central coast residents as an active member and also serving as Vice-President of Community Outreach for the ASCE Cal Poly chapter and co-chair to the Advancing Careers in Engineering Cal Poly SHPE chapter.
Upon graduation, Galvez continued his active involvement with ASCE & SHPE by immediately becoming involved with the ASCE YMF and SHPE San Francisco Bay Area (SFBA) chapter, attending events with other organizations such as NSBE, SWE, APWA, SPUR, and various Hispanic professional organizations in the San Francisco area.
Galvez has served as the SHPE SFBA chapter president for the last three years, lcontinues to lead the Sherwood Design Engineers Community Outreach committee and is an active member of ASCE’s Committee on Diversity & Inclusion (CDI).
Mr. Galvez is a licensed professional engineer and earned his B.S. in Civil Engineering with a concentration in structural and transportation engineering from California Polytechnic San Luis Obispo.
