An active volunteer with ASCE’s Birmingham Branch, Green organizes the annual Renew Our Rivers clean-up effort at the Cahaba River National Wildlife Refuge and E-Week activities at the McWane Science Center. During her tenure as the branch’s Younger Member President she partnered with other young professional organizations to form the Young Architects, Engineers and Constructors Council (YAEC) of Birmingham and launched two very successful outreach programs: Canstruction® and E-Week. Green also volunteers as a mentor with iCan, where she introduces middle school girls to engineering and 100 Women Strong at Auburn University where she helps to retain female students in Auburn University’s engineering program.
Previously, Green served as an engineer with Southern Nuclear where she was responsible for environmental compliance and permitting for the construction and operation of Plant Vogtle Nuclear Electric Generating Plant Units 3&4, the first new nuclear units being constructed in the U.S. in 3 decades. The units will provide safe, reliable energy to power 500,000 homes and businesses.
Green earned her bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Auburn University in Civil Engineering and Environmental Engineering, respectively.
