ASCE has named the Louisville Water Company's Riverbank Filtration Tunnel and Pump Station project the Outstanding Civil Engineering Achievement award winner for 2011. The winner was announced Thursday evening at the society's OPAL gala.
The world's only tunneling and well system produces 60 million gallons of potable water per day for the city of Louisville, Kentucky. The project was chosen from a field of five finalists:
Cowboys Stadium; Arlington, TexasIncheon Bridge Project; South KoreaTaum Sauk Upper Reservoir Rebuild Project; Annapolis, MissouriWashington Dulles International Airport Main Terminal APM Station; Dulles, Virginia.
