The American Society of Civil Engineers’ Structural Engineering Institute (ASCE/SEI) today announced it will conduct a public comment period on revisions to an existing standard, Minimum Design Loads for Buildings and Other Structures. The public comment period will be held from October 15, 2009 through November 30, 2009.
The standard identifies provisions for determining the minimum design loads for dead, live, soil, flood, wind, snow and earthquake loads, combinations of these loads, and other general requirements. It is designed to assist building code and regulatory committees, architects, structural engineers and those engaged in preparing and administering local building codes.
To participate in the public comment period, contact Lee Kusek, ASCE Codes & Standards Administrator at email@example.com or 703-295-6176. For more information on this standard, or ASCE’s standards program, please contact Leikny Johnson at firstname.lastname@example.org or 703-295-6413.
Founded in 1996, the American Society of Civil Engineers’ Structural Engineering Institute (ASCE/SEI) involves all facets of the structural engineering community, including practicing engineers, research scientists, academics, technologists, material suppliers, contractors and owners. SEI is committed to advancing the structural engineering profession and rapidly responding to the emerging needs of the broad structural engineering community.
