Reston, Va. — The American Society of Civil Engineers’ Environmental and Water Resources Institute (ASCE/EWRI) today announced it will conduct a public comment period on two professional standards: Guidelines for the Physical Security of Water Utilities and Guidelines for the Physical Security of Wastewater/Stormwater Utilities. The public comment period will be held from October 15, 2009 through November 30, 2009.
The guidelines for water utilities apply to physical security for facilities used in potable water source, treatment and distribution systems. The guidelines for wastewater/stormwater utilities apply to physical security for wastewater collection and treatment systems (also called sanitary-sewer collection and treatment systems) as well as stormwater systems.
The drafts of these guidelines were developed as a joint effort between ASCE and the American Water Works Association with technical input from the Water Environment Federation under a cooperative agreement with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency.
To participate in the public comment period, contact Lee Kusek, ASCE Codes & Standards Administrator at email@example.com or 703-295-6176. For more information on this standard, or ASCE’s standards program, please contact Leikny Johnson at firstname.lastname@example.org or 703-295-6413.
