Special issue of Leadership and Management in Engineering, July 2008.

This special issue contains 7 articles presenting future challenges for the engineering profession that result from global climate change. Civil and environmental engineers will play a key role in responding to many of the projected effects of global climate change, including drought-induced shortages in water supply, changes in storm patterns and severity, and the potential for increased flooding as a result of rising sea levels and shifting rainfall patterns. As professionals responsible for the infrastructure that ensures the public's physical well-being, civil engineers must consider these issues and prepare for the future.
