Proceedings of sessions of Geo-Denver 2000, held in Denver, Colorado, August 5-8, 2000. Sponsored by the Geo-Institute of ASCE.
This Geotechnical Special Publication contains 10 papers on timely and important
issues related to characterization of pavement subgrade and unbound
materials using new analytical and experimental techniques. Papers cover pavement nondestructive testing using the falling weight deflectometer (FWD), high-speed rolling deflectometer, and spectral-analysis-of-surface-waves (SASW). Different methods of
laboratory testing, such as triaxial and resilient modulus testing,
are also discussed. The analysis methods include artificial neural
network, three-dimensional finite element techniques, linear and
nonlinear material response, static and dynamic analysis of
material behavior, and backcalculation of layer moduli. The papers
cover characterization of pavement surface, base, subbase, and
subgrade layers. The depth to bedrock is also considered.
