Prepared by the Highway Innovative Technology Evaluation Center, a CERF Service Center.
This report describes a HITEC laboratory and field evaluation to determine the effectiveness of Ice Ban anit-icing and deicing products in snow removal and ice control operation on roads. The report summarizes field demonstrations conducted by eight state transportation agencies, and the effects of the ice control agent on highway structures and vehicles are assessed. Ice Ban is the concentrated liquid residue of the rermentation and distillation of alcohols (ethanol) and the processing of corn and other agricultural products. It can be applied as a liquid anti-icing or deicing agent and as a road salt or sand pretrating agent.
