Record Attendance at the 2012 Presidents and Governors Forum
ASCE’s Committee on Geographic Units hosted the Presidents and Governors Forum at ASCE Headquarters on September 23-24. The program attracted a record attendance of 93 Section and Branch leaders, Younger Members and Region Governors.
The Forum provided attendees with an opportunity to learn about key initiatives at the Society level and to interact with Society leaders from across the country, as well as ASCE staff. Participants were provided with tools to assist them in their leadership roles, including how to develop a succession plan, how to utilize their Governors, and how to enhance the interaction between their Sections/Branches and Student Chapters.
Several Section and Branch Best Practices were presented. These included improving Section/Branch newsletters and web sites, fundraising, tips for unemployed engineers, and ideas for Section/Branch milestone anniversaries.
