Norma Jean Mattei, Ph.D, P.E., M.ASCE, Chair

Norma Jean Mattei was elected Director of Region 5 in 2008.  She earned both a bachelor's degree and a doctorate in civil engineering from Tulane University and is currently an associate professor of civil and environmental engineering at the University of New Orleans.  Earlier in her career she was an assistant professor at Louisiana State University, a project engineer for Linder & Associates of Metairie, Louisiana, and a design engineer for New Orleans-based Madjeski and Masters, Inc.  Her ASCE involvement includes serving as a Governor of Region 5; as President, Secretary, Treasurer, and Director of the Louisiana Section; and as President, Vice President, Treasurer, and Director of the Louisiana Section's New Orleans Branch.  She has also served on local and national ASCE committees, including the Committee on Diversity and Women in Civil Engineering and a committe on licensure and ethics.
