 Stephen D. Bechtel, Jr. Energy Award

The Stephen D. Bechtel Energy Award was established to recognize outstanding achievements in the energy field by a civil engineer.  It is an annual award to an ASCE member who has made a definite contribution to the advancement of the energy field in research, planning, design or construction.  The contribution can be in the form of papers or other written presentations or through outstanding performance or specific noteworthy actions that have served to advance the art,science and technology of the energy field.  Only one award is given per year unless the achievement was made as a joint contribution of more than one person.  The Executive Committee of the Energy Division will select a nominee whom they will recommend to the ASCE Board of Direction for final action.  The award consists of a plaque and cash prize determined annually by and subject to approval of the Executive Committee of the ASCE Board of Direction.  Nominations for this award should reach the ASCE Headquarters by November 1.


Phillip R. Hoffman Award

The Phillip R. Hoffman Award is an annual award given to an engineer who has made a definite contribution to the field of hydroelectric generation-puimped storage.  The contribution can be in the form of a published  paper or performance in the field.  The Energy Division Executive Committee will recommend the recipient, or recipients, in the case of a joint effort, the the Executive Committee of the ASCE Board of Direction for final action.  The award shall consist of a plaque.  Nominations should reach ASCE Headquarters by Nvember 1.


Rickey Medal

The Rickey Medal is given annually to a Society member for achievement in the general field of hydroelectric engineering.  The contribution can be made through outstanding performance or specific noteworthy actions that have served the field of hydroelectric engineering and may include a career of published papers.  Only one prize may be awarded per year and an individual may only receive this award once.  The Energy Division Executive Committee shall recommend a nominee whose choice is subject to ratification by the Executive Committee of the ASCE Board of Direction.  The award consists of a gold plated medal and a cash prize determined annually by and subject to the approval of the Executive Committee of the ASCE Board of Direction.  Nominations should reach ASCE Headquarters by November 1.
