The 2013 Eastern Regional Younger Member Council (ERYMC) presented six awards to Regions 1, 2, 4 and 5 Younger Members/Groups. The most prestigious awards included the Outstanding Young Civil Engineer in the Private Sector and the Outstanding Young Civil Engineer in the Public Sector, which are presented to exemplary young engineers working in private and public sector engineering, respectively, with the requirement that they be 35 years of age or less on December 31st in the year of the award. Other awards included: Outstanding Younger Member Community Service Project, Outstanding ASCE Practitioner Advisor, and Outstanding Younger Member in Community Activities.
In addition, a new Award was offered in 2013: the ERYMC Peers Group Award. This Award follows the model of the national Younger Member Group Award (administered by the Committee on Younger Members) and honors the best Younger Member Group in Regions 1, 2, 4 and 5 as selected by the member groups of the council. Nominations received by the Application Due Date were forwarded to all Groups. Each Group had the opportunity to vote for a nominee in the Large and Small Group categories through their authorized Delegate during the 2013 ERYMC Annual Meeting.
Any Section or Branch in Regions 1, 2, 4 and 5 were able to nominate Younger Member candidates and Younger Member Groups for the awards. Each of the applications were judged by a distinguished panel of civil engineers to determine the award recipients.
