Younger Member Councils (YMCs) are made up of Younger Member Groups (YMGs) from the Sections and Branches within a geographic area. YMCs provide an opportunity for the voices of Younger Members (YMs) to be heard on a Society level, so the centerpiece of the YMC is a business meeting. The YMC is a leadership conference as well, designed to train incoming and current YM officers, share information on new and upcoming ASCE activities/events, and provide a networking opportunity with peers as well as the Society’s leadership.
Each year, CYM Geographic Members assist three Younger Member Groups (YMGs) in the planning of Multi-Regional YMCs. Each YMC is unique, with locally selected/planned speakers, tours, and award programs. However, they all have a business meeting to give member YMGs an opportunity to voice opinions directly to the ASCE Board of Direction. The YMCs are typically held in conjunction with the Workshop for Section and Branch Leaders and the Workshop for Student Chapter Leaders at the Multi Region Leadership Conference.
