AEI Webinar

Hurricane Resistant Glazing Systems: How to Ensure Installation of a Safe and Secure Building Envelope - NEW
June 23, 11:30 am - 1:00 pm ET

Instructor: Rick De La Guardia, E.I., M. ASCE

Purpose and Background
Our glazing systems are not being given the attention they deserve considering that they comprise a large portion of our building envelopes and are the first line of defense during a hurricane. Most of the glazing systems designed and installed in hurricane-prone regions of the country may be ill prepared to protect our buildings from a powerful storm. This webinar will raise awareness of the many requirements in the proper design of hurricane-resistant glazing systems that are being mostly overlooked in today’s designs. With the increasing threat of storms everyone in hurricane-prone regions need to be aware of if and how our glazing systems can provide adequate protection of our buildings during a hurricane. New Masters Degree program in Architectural Engineering

In March the University of Wyoming Trustees approved a Masters of Science degree program in Architectural Engineering. UW becomes the 10th university in the country to offer this degree. The new program will allow the Architectural Engineering faculty to recruit more graduate students and increase research activities, particularly in the area of building energy systems. This program goes into effect immediately.
