Justin D. Marshall is an Associate Professor in the Department of Civil Engineering at Auburn University in Auburn, Alabama. Prior to joining the faculty at Auburn, he was a consulting structural engineer and earned his P.E. license in California. Dr. Marshall teaches graduate level university courses in structural analysis, structural dynamics, and earthquake engineering. He has been active in earthquake engineering research and has received funding from the National Science Foundation, the American Institute of Steel Construction, the Metal Building Manufacturers Association and the Alabama Department of Transportation. He has also been active in post-earthquake reconnaissance efforts in both Haiti and Christchurch, New Zealand.

Dr. Marshall is an active member of ASCE and the Earthquake Engineering Research Institute. He is an associate member of the ASCE 7 seismic subcommittee. In addition, he serves on the EERI Learning from Earthquakes Committee, is the Research Coordinator for the Transportation Research Board Seismic Design and Performance of Bridges Committee and is the Vice Chair for the ASCE/SEI Seismic Effects Committee.

He received his B.S. and M.S. degrees at Brigham Young University, and his Ph.D. at Virginia Tech.
