In honor of ASCE’s 150th Anniversary, all ASCE members and their families and guests are invited to enjoy a day of fun hands-on activities designed to introduce
children of all ages to the excitement of Civil Engineering. This public event will explore the basic design concepts behind bridges, domes, skyscrapers, dams, and tunnels.
The build-a-thon is an outreach program based on the PBS series, Building Big™, a co-production of WGBH Science Unit and Production Group, Inc.
Monday, November 4 * 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm Washington Convention Center
Educational Outreach Training Seminar
To celebrate its 150th anniversary, ASCE developed a range of educational outreach tools to help prepare members to deliver the excitement of Civil
Engineering to students in grades K-12. These tools include instructional booklets, a CD-ROM, videos, self-tutorial PowerPoint training presentations, and more.
This seminar will focus on ZOOM into Engineering, ASCE’s newest outreach program, while highlighting other ASCE outreach programs such as Building Big™. Both Zoom into
Engineering and Building Big flexibly combine volunteer engineers with fun, kid-tested engineering activities. Attendees will learn how to organize outreach
events and train other volunteer engineers on how to identify and work with partners including PBS stations, museums, and youth groups.
Space is limited. To participate, check this activity on your Conference Registration Form.
