Thank you for agreeing to participate in the 2002 Civil Engineering Conference & Exposition, to be held November 3-7, 2002 at the Washington Convention Center in Washington, DC. We appreciate the commitment that you have made to the success of this conference.
We have organized some very important instructions for you and have tried to keep them as straightforward as possible, but there is still quite a lot of information. Please take just a few minutes to read through these simple instructions, as they will be invaluable when you come to the conference. We have included web links wherever possible for your convenience.
AT THIS TIME:
Please register and pay the appropriate fees to participate in the 2002 Civil Engineering Conference & Exposition. All ASCE conferences are self-supporting, and so it is critical that all speakers and session moderators do this. Please register as a "Speaker" even if you are a member of ASCE or one of the Cooperating Organizations to take advantage of the best rates, and so we know that all of our Speakers are going to be with us! Register before September 13, 2002 to take advantage of the VERY best rates. You may also print out the registration form and fax it to 703-295-6144.
Make your hotel reservations at the hotel of your choice by October 11, 2002 to take advantage of the special conference rate. Please be aware that the Renaissance Washington DC Hotel is the headquarters hotel for this event.
Audio-Visual Request Form. Be sure to return this form by October 1, 2002 to assure that the proper equipment will be available for you. NOTE: Laptop computers will NOT be provided at the conference. You should plan on bringing your own computer, or contact your session moderator in advance to arrange to use one. Also be sure to bring a backup of any computer presentations on a disc or CD.
Please make your reservation for the Speakers' Breakfast on the day of your presentation. Making a reservation will allow us to ensure appropriate food and beverage requirements.
Prepare your presentation. The Presentation Guidelines will help you best prepare. Please take advantage of these in order to have the best presentation possible.
Moderators, the Moderator Guidelines will assist you in organizing a smooth-running session.
International speakers: please bring your own electrical adapter if needed, as they are not generally available in the United States for use here.
WHEN YOU GET TO Washington, DC:
Check into your hotel.
Come to the 2002 Civil Engineering Conference & Exposition Registration Desk, located in the Washington Convention Center, to pick up your registration packet, badge, and speaker/moderator ribbon. Moderators: the completed Biographical Information forms for your session will be given to you onsite.
Drop by the speaker ready room to prepare one last time for your presentation and to check your audio-visual aids. We will have a limited number of carousels for use with 35mm slides, but please bring your slides already arranged in your own carousel, if possible.
We look forward to working with you to ensure a successful conference! If you have any questions, please contact Mrs. Lucy King at (703) 295-6086 or lking@asce.org.
