8th Annual CEO Forum

The CEO Forum is a unique opportunity to hear engineering and construction industry leaders discuss critical issues facing our profession now and in the future. This will be the eighth time the ASCE Annual Conference has featured this plenary forum of key managers in design and construction. It will be a free-flowing, unscripted, lively exchange among the panelists addressing professional and business topics of interest to all. Their discussion will be followed by questions from the audience.

In 1992, Henry J. "Hank" Hatch completed a distinguished 35-year career in the US Army, retiring after serving as Chief of Engineers and Commander of the US Army Corps of Engineers. His missions included military construction and environmental engineering for the Army, Air Force, and the Army's civil water resources program, while commanding more than 40,000 members of the Corps. More recently, he served as Chief Operating Officer for the American Society of Civil Engineers. Hatch continues to be active with ASCE and the National Research Council, the Society of American Military Engineers, and the Engineering and Technology Exploring Program of the Boy Scouts of American. He was National Chairman of National Engineers Week 2002.

Gerry Kenny started working alongside his father 31 years ago to learn the family construction business. Today Gerry has turned his father's well-respected regional company into a multi-national construction company, continuing his personal mission to bring his professional best to each and every job. The teamwork and company pride apparent in Kenny employees stems from Gerry's style of leadership that allows everyone to contribute their expertise and ideas to play a meaningful role in each project. Gerry's vision extends beyond Kenny Construction to the industry as a whole. Realizing the importance of relationships in promoting the construction industry, Gerry dedicates his time to building bridges between his profession and the construction community at large. A graduate of Georgetown University, Gerry holds an MBA from the Kellogg School of Business, Northwestern University.

As Chairman of Parsons Brinckerhoff, Bob Prieto heads PB's board of directors in its role of protecting the interests of PB's employee-shareholders by ensuring the continued successful long-term performance of the company. Additionally as Director of Corporate Development, Bob oversees continually expanding marketing/ planning needs that encompass more than 8,700 employees in more than 250 corporate and project offices worldwide. In this capacity, he is responsible for strategic planning; management of the firm's worldwide marketing, sales, and corporate communications budget; and oversight of all marketing/sales operations including government affairs and merger/acquisition activities, and the business services group, which supports the firm's marketing/sales professionals. Bob holds nuclear engineering degrees - an MS from Polytechnic Institute of New York and a BS from New York University.

J. Doug Pruitt has served with the Sundt family of companies since 1966. In 1992, he assumed the position of President and Chief Operating Officer and in 1998, became Chairman and CEO. Sundt Construction, Inc., enjoys an annual volume of $500 million in pre-construction and construction services, with projects in commercial and institutional buildings, highways, bridges, dams, multi-family and senior housing, telecommunications, wastewater treatment, and international construction. Doug, who holds an AS in Civil Engineering from Oklahoma State University and a BS in Business Administration from the University of Phoenix, is the author of recognized articles on concrete slip-form mechanical cores for high-rise buildings.

Kenneth E. Stinson

Ken Stinson received his BS in Civil Engineering from the University of Notre Dame in 1964 and served in the US Navy Civil Engineer Corps, including three tours in Vietnam with the Navy Seabees. He received his Masters in Civil Engineering from Stanford University in 1970, and has worked for Peter Kiewit Sons', Inc. continuously since then. From 1970 to 1982, he focused on large projects, including the 63rd Street Tube and Tunnel in New York City, Pasco-Kennewich cable-stayed bridge and I-205 Bridge in Washington State, and Ft. McHenry Tunnel in Baltimore. He moved to Kiewit headquarters in Omaha as Corporate Vice President of Marketing in 1982, and became Chairman/CEO of Kiewit Construction Group in 1992 and Chairman/CEO of the parent company, Peter Kiewit Sons', Inc., in 1998. He has been Director of the parent company since 1987. Mr. Stinson was the recipient of a 2003 OPAL Award from ASCE on May 1.
