Order of the Engineer; Engineer's Ring Ceremony

ASCE Civil Engineering Conference & Exposition
November 13, 2003
7:00 AM - 8:00 AM

The Order of the Engineer was initiated in the United States to foster a spirit of pride and responsibility in the engineering profession, to bridge the gap between training and experience, and to present to the public a visible symbol identifying the engineer. Participants take the Obligation of the Engineer and wear a steel ring as a reminder of their commitment to high ethics and professionalism.

ASCE is conducting an Engineer's Ring Ceremony at this year's Conference and Exposition. You are encouraged to become an Order of the Engineer member if you:
    1. have graduated from an ABET-accredited engineering program, or
    2. hold a license as a Professional Engineer, or
    3. are enrolled in an ABET-accredited engineering program and within two academic terms of graduation.
Participants will receive a steel Engineer's Ring and an Obligation certificate at the Ceremony. The registration fee to participate in the Ceremony is $30. Guests are welcome at the Ceremony, the guest fee is $20 for the breakfast. The Engineer's Ring is to be worn on the fifth finger (pinkie) of the writing hand. You can use the PDF Ring Sizer to assist in determining your size or visit your local jeweler.
