Meeting the New Challenges of the 21st Century
October 20-22, 2004
Baltimore Convention Center
Baltimore, MD
Calling all engineers and scientists concerned with civil
engineering in the oceans! Plan to take part in an important
forum focused on hydrodynamics, coastal and offshore structures,
marine transportation, and marine geotechnical engineering!
Plan to Attend & Contribute to
Your Profession!
Civil Engineering in the Oceans VI (CEO6) – a multidisciplinary technical
conference for engineers and scientists from governmental agencies, academia,
and the private sector who have a shared interest in civil engineering in
the oceans research – will provide a forum for the exchange of information
and ideas in the fields of hydrodynamics, coastal and offshore structures,
marine transportation, and marine geotechnical engineering.
Attendees will acquire new civil engineering knowledge, enhance problem
solving capabilities, participate in developing solutions to problems,
exchange different views, network with colleagues, and participate in continuing
education programs.
This will be the sixth conference in this highly successful series, initiated in
1967 and sponsored by the American Society of Civil Engineers.
True to its theme, "Meeting the New Challenges of the 21st Century,"
CEO6 will offer a broad technical program with keynote addresses on major
topics, a number of invited survey papers by internationally recognized
experts, AND YOUR TIMELY CONTRIBUTIONS describing the latest
project and technology advances.
Civil engineering in deep and shallow water continues to be a
major issue both in the United States and abroad.Tremendous engineering
strides have been made in the oceans in the last 50 years,
and the demands of the new century offer opportunities for even
more exciting and technically challenging projects. The CEO concept
serves as an excellent vehicle for such technology transfer.
Conference proceedings will ultimately serve as a comprehensive
handbook on state–of–the–art ocean and offshore engineering.
CEO6 will take place in conjunction with ASCE's Baltimore
2004 Civil Engineering Conference & Exposition at the
Baltimore Convention Center in Baltimore's Inner Harbor,
October 20-23, 2004.
CEO6 attendees are invited to tour the Johns Hopkins
University Applied Physics Laboratory, and share in
ASCE Conference events, including an Icebreaker,
Banquet, and accompanying persons' program.
Exhibitors are encouraged to present their products
at the ASCE Expo in the Baltimore Convention Center.
Room blocks have been set aside for attendees
at both conferences at two nearby hotels –
the Wyndham (3 blocks away) and Hyatt
(across the street).
