Fellowship Opportunities The International Cooperation Council (ICC) of the Environmental and Water Resources Institute (EWRI) invites applications for Visiting International Fellows. Please see http://www.ag.unr.edu/saito/info05.htm for more details and application forms. Service Charges Service charges or tips are generally not included in published prices in the United States. Restaurant servers, taxi drivers, etc., generally expect a tip of at least 15%. Smoking in the US Smoking in public areas is usually prohibited in the United States. Smokers should seek out designated smoking areas in hotels, restaurants, and other businesses. Congress Dress Business casual attire is appropriate for most World Water Congress events. Although jackets are not required for the sessions, jackets or sweaters that can be removed are advisable because conference rooms may be cool. You may choose to wear business attire for the awards luncheon. The best plan is to dress in layers, so that as you move from one place to another you can adjust your clothing. Also, in order to enjoy the many sightseeing and outdoor activities, be sure to bring good walking shoes and a variety of comfortable clothes. Weather and Daylight Temperatures can range from as low as 40ºF to temperatures in the low 80's. Expect sunny skies, with less than 1 inch of rain generally reported for the month of May. We will enjoy nearly 20 hours of daylight each day during our stay. The time zone is Alaska Standard Time, 1 hour earlier than US Pacific Time. Electricity The electricity used in the United States is standard electricity, which is 110 volts. Please bring the appropriate adapters and transformers for any appliances or computers that you bring to the Congress, as these are not readily available in the United States for adaptation FROM overseas appliances. Grants We regret that ASCE is not able to award any other grants or fee waivers to attend the conference besides the Visiting International Fellowship mentioned above.
