Villanova Stormwater Best Management Practice Research and Demonstration Park
Monday, June 23 - 1:30 pm - 4:30 pm
Monday, June 23 - 2:30 pm - 5:30 pm
Thursday, June 26 - 8:30 am - 11:30 am
Participants will tour Villanova's BMP Research and Demonstration Park (Featured in ASCE Magazine September 2002). As the practice of stormwater management moves toward addressing runoff volume and quality, new design practices and innovative technologies are being explored. Villanova, supported through 319 and Pennsylvania Growing Greener Grants has constructed a research and demonstration park to both introduce new designs to the public as well as to study their performance. Current BMP's include a stormwater wetland, a bioinfiltration traffic island, a detention pond, and a porous concrete facility. A stormwater reuse pond on the campus of neighboring Bryn Mawr College also be included. Except for the detention pond, all facilities are retrofits, showing how older facilities can be updated. Plans are underway to add a roof top garden and other BMP's. More information on each of these BMPs is available through the Villanova Urban Stormwater Partnership website:
