EWRI 2003 Photo Contest Winner Announcement
The winner of 2003 Photography Contest for students and younger member sponsored by the Environmental and Water Resources Institute (EWRI) of the American Society of Civil Engineers is Tyler C. Ladd. Tyler is a Student Member and a Masters Degree candidate at Villanova University in Pennsylvania. His photograph of the Villanova Stormwater Wetlands outlet will be displayed on the Proceedings of the 2003 EWRI World Water and Environmental Resources Congress to be held in Philadelphia, June 23-26, 2003. As the contest winner, Tyler received a complimentary registration and travel expenses to Philadelphia, and a $100 prize.
Four runner-up awards for the contest are announced:

Kate O'Connor of Ithaca, New York,
David Honan of Terre Haute, Indiana, and
Ellen L. Hall PE of Centerville, Pennsylvania.
EWRI 2003 Parsons Brinkerhoff Capstone Design Contest
Currently all undergraduate civil engineering programs are required to include a "capstone" design experience and schools are strongly urged to require their students to work in teams. Finalist teams will compete at the EWRI Congress. Each student team will orally present their project to a panel of industry judges during a special session at the conference. Each team will receive up to $1000 for travel reimbursement and a one-year membership in EWRI. Plaques will be awarded, and the members of the top team will win a one-year subscription to an ASCE journal of their choice.
