2006 Student & Younger Member Competitions2006 Student Paper CompetitionThe Student Paper Competition is an annual event sponsored by EWRI to give students a chance to develop leadership and presentation skills through presenting a technical paper at the 2006 EWRI World Water and Environmental Resources Congress May 21-25, 2006 in Omaha, Nebraska. Any undergraduate or graduate member of a recognized ASCE student chapter may enter a paper on any technical or editorial subject related to environmental/water resources. Judging will be based on technical content, demonstrated knowledge, originality, presentation, and clarity and will be done by members of the EWRI Student and New Professional Council as well as engineers from the industry. Up to four winners, two undergraduates and two graduate students, will quality to make a technical presentation at the EWRI Congress and have their paper published in the Congress proceedings. These four winners will also receive a cash prize and funding up to $500.00 to attend the Congress in Omaha. Submissions must be received by February 11, 2006 and winners will be notified March 15th.2006 Parsons Brinckerhoff Student Design CompetitionCurrently, all university civil and/or environmental engineering programs are required to incorporate an undergraduate team design experience. This competition draws from this product. Up to three finalist teams will be selected to present their team design experience and compete at the 2006 EWRI Congress. Each student team will orally present their projects to a panel of industry judges during a special session at the Congress. Each team will receive up to $1500 for travel reimbursements to compete at the Congress. To enter, send a four-page project description and include the Faculty Advisors recommendation to Katie Gorscak at kgorscak@asce.org by March 15, 2006. The winning photograph will be selected to publicize the 2005 Congress in Omaha and the recipient will receive funding up to $500.00 to attend the Congress. The deadline for submission is March 17, 2005.
