About

Every year, structures and other engineered facilities suffer damage and performance problems because of natural and man-made disasters that include unanticipated loading conditions, poor design, lack of maintenance, and poor construction practices.

TCFE’s mission is to apply engineering principles to investigate failures and performance problems of engineered facilities, and to develop practices and procedures to reduce the number of future failures. TCFE uses the Forensic Congress to disseminate information on failures and practices to mitigate failures, and provide a forum to discuss ethical practice within the field of forensic engineering.

Previous forensic congresses were held in San Juan, Puerto Rico (2000) and Minneapolis, Minnesota (1997). At the 2nd Congress, 74 papers were presented and some 250 delegates attended from all over the world. It is anticipated that this 3rd Congress will be similar in scope and likewise attract international participants.
