Yacht Reception and Dinner Tuesday, July 15, 6:00 pm-9:00 pm What could be better on a warm summer evening than sea breezes and the magnificent sights of Baltimore Harbor? You’ll enjoy all this and more during the three-hour dinner cruise on the yacht “Royal Blue.” The elegant 75-foot yacht has spacious decks and is fully equipped for luxurous entertaining and dining. You’ll see Baltimore from it’s best vantage point all lit up at night and get glimpses of Fort McHenry, The Francis Scott Key Bridge, and many other Baltimore landmarks. Tickets for this dinner cruise are not included in the registration fee and are $50 per ticket (child and adult). The Royal Blue departs from the marina adjacent to the Baltimore Marriott Waterfront Hotel. All ticket sales are subject to availability. Pipelines 2003 Golf Tournament Sunday, July 13, 11:00 am – 5:30 pm Enjoy a relaxing round of golf with your industry colleagues at one of Maryland’s best golf courses, Patuxent Greens. Patuxent Greens’ 18-hole classically designed and professionally maintained course mixes challenge with a sense of fairness to offer a memorable golf experience for all. No matter what your level, tree-lined fairways, wellmaintained greens, and natural hazards promise a true test of your shot-making abilities. The bus will depart for the tournament at 11:00 am on Sunday morning. Lunch will be served upon arrival and play will begin at 1:20 pm. You will be returned to the hotel at approximately 5:30pm. Golf tournament tickets are not included in the conference registration fees; they must be purchased separately by using the conference registration form or online for $90. Space is limited so please register early if you plan to participate. Get Around by Water Taxi Baltimore’s water transportation system of 16 blue and white boats is the oldest of its kind in the country. The price for all-day, unlimited, on-off service transportation to more than 30 attractions and neighborhoods is only $6 for adults, $3 for children. Group discounts and tours available. Visit the Public Works Museum Explore the dynamic interrelationships of public works and urban life. Learn about the history of Baltimore's public works and the fascinating technology behind clean drinking water, recycling, tunnels and more! Plenary SessionMonday, July 14, 8:20 am – 9:40 amState of the Pipeline Industry Tom Iseley, Ph.D., P.E., President, Blackhawk-PAS Pipeline Assessment Services Dr. Tom Iseley has more than 30 years of experience in the planning, design, and construction of underground infrastructure systems. Among his many credentials, he is the former chairman of the department of Construction Technology at the Purdue University School of Engineering and Technology, founder of the Trenchless Technology Center (TTC) and a founding director of the North American Society for Trenchless Technology (NASTT). In 1993, he was selected as the Trenchless Technology Magazine’s Person of the Year He received the Stephen D. Bechtel Pipeline Engineering Award in 1999. Dr. Iseley will discuss recent developments and future expectations for the pipeline industry, which represent significant assets, as well as new technologies affecting the planning, design, and construction processes. Evolution of Trenchless Technologies Dietrich Hans Helmut Stein, Dr.-Ing., Germany Dr. Dietrich Hans Helmut Stein is a professor and chair for "Pipeline Construction and Maintenance" at the Ruhr- Universität Bochum, Germany. He also serves as Vice- President of the International Society for Trenchless Technology (ISTT), London, Director of the international board; and is a member of the Board of Directors of the Institute for Berg- und Energierecht at the Ruhr-Universität Bochum. He is Chairman of the committee of experts Group ES 8 "Rehabilitation of Drains and Sewers" of the ATV-DVWK (German Association for the Water Environment), and is Head of the Working Group 7 "Trenchless Construction – Development and Research" of the German Society for Trenchless Technology (GSTT). He holds a Dr.-Ing. from the University for Traffic Systems "Friedrich-List," Dresden. Dr. Stein will discuss the most substantial developments in trenchless technology today including the latest European standards and applications to meet them, as well as emerging technologies such as multiple installations, innovative use of existing host pipes, and installation of utility ducts and tunnels. Technical TourRinker PipeThursday, July 17, 9:00 am–1:00 pm Visit Rinker Pipe’s state-of-the-art, computer process controlled pipe manufacturing facility in Frederick, Maryland, for a post conference technical tour. Join your fellow attendees to tour an ultra-modern reinforced concrete pipe manufacturing facility and see how the pipelines of the future will be produced. Buses will leave the hotel at 9:00 a.m. Thursday morning traveling about an hour west to Frederick, Maryland, and return at 1:00 p.m. Registration fee: $ 20 (includes transportation) Limit 25 persons. |
