2004 Conference. The 2004 conference is the 10th in a series
of international port, inland waterway, and harbor
development specialty conferences, which have been held
triennially since 1977. Ports 2004 will showcase exciting
and significant technological advancements in the development of worldwide
port, inland waterway, and harbor facilities. Past conferences have been

to exchange practical ideas, explore strategies, and share experiences in

The development of ports, inland waterways, and harbor facilities is undergoing significant challenges in response to the world's ever changing conditions and events. Facilities development has become more complex and challenging in all phases and stages of development — from planning, environmental issues, permitting, and geo–technical issues to access concerns, design engineering, construction, operations, management, maintenance, and rehabilitation. An encompassing array of pertinent professional manuscripts will be presented at the 2004 conference to address the complex, innovative, and state–of–the–art technical aspects of these topics.
