Dear Speaker or Moderator:

Thank you for agreeing to participate at the Structures Congress 2002 in Denver, Colorado. We appreciate the commitment that you have made to the success of this conference.

We have organized some very important instructions for you. We've tried to keep this as straightforward as possible, but there is still quite a lot of information. Please take just a few minutes to read through these simple instructions, as they will be invaluable when you come to the Congress. We have included web links wherever possible for your convenience.

AT THIS TIME:

  • Please register and pay the appropriate fees to participate in the Structures Congress. As you know, the conference is self-supporting, and so it is critical that all speakers and session moderators do this. Please register as a "Speaker" even if you are a member of ASCE or one of the Cooperating Organizations to take advantage of the best rates, and so we know that all of our Speakers are going to be with us! Register before March 1, 2002 to take advantage of the VERY best rates. You may also print out the registration form and fax it to 703-295-6144.
  • Make your hotel reservations at the Denver Marriott City Center Hotel by March 12, 2002 to take advantage of the special conference rate. You may also make your reservations via mail to Denver Marriott City Center Hotel, 1701 California Street, Denver, CO, 80202, or by faxing 303-298-7474. By staying at the conference hotel, you will be sure to be onsite for all of the activities. Be sure to tell them you are coming with the ASCE Structures Congress!
  • Forms:
    • Speaker Biographical Information form. This form will be used by the session moderator to introduce you at your session.
    • Audio-Visual Request Form. Be sure to return this form by March 12, 2002, or you may be assessed a fee for the equipment that you need. If you need more or different equipment than is on the form, please contact Christina Childs at cchilds@asce.org or 703-295-6197. Laptop computers will NOT be provided at the conference. You should plan on bringing your own, or contact your session moderator in advance to arrange to use one.
  • Prepare your presentation. The Presentation Guidelines will help you best prepare. Please take advantage of these in order to have the best presentation possible.
  • International speakers: please bring your own electrical adapter if needed, as they are not generally available in the United States for use here. Also be sure to bring a backup of any computer presentations on a disc or CD.
WHEN YOU GET TO DENVER:
  • Check into the Denver Marriott City Center Hotel.
  • Come to the Structures Congress Registration desk to pick up your registration packet, badge, proceedings and speaker/moderator ribbon. The Registration Desk will be open on Wednesday, April 3 from 11:00 am - 4:00 pm, Thursday from 7:00 am - 5:00 pm, Friday from 7:00 am - 6:00 pm and Saturday from 7:00 am - 5:00 pm.
  • Moderators: the completed Biographical Information forms for your session will be given to you onsite.
  • Drop by the speaker ready room to prepare one last time for your presentation and to check your audio-visual aids. We will have a Caramate slide viewer, a limited number of carousels for use with 35mm slides, an overhead, an LCD computer projector and a screen. If possible, please bring your slides already arranged in your own carousel.
Please feel free to contact me directly if you have additional questions. We look forward to seeing you in Denver!
