You'll know you're in Music City USA the minute you step off the plane. Images of country music greats – Hank Williams, Patsy Cline, Roy Acuff – adorn the walls of Nashville International Airport. But Nashville is about so much more than music alone. The historic riverfront district boasts a lively nightlife with restaurants, coffee houses, nightclubs, and shops. Performances by the symphony, opera, ballet, and theater groups take place at The Tennessee Performing Arts Center downtown. The city has recently added an arena, home of the National Hockey League Nashville Predators. Adelphia Coliseum opened in 1999 and is home of the National Football League 1999 AFC champion Tennessee Titans.

Often called "The Third Coast," Nashville also has a dynamic film, video, and recording industry. It is also noted for healthcare, publishing, insurance, and finance, as well as education. Nashville is a city of students with more than a dozen colleges and universities attracting some 30,000 students from the United States and around the world. The capital of Tennessee, Nashville is a rapidly growing city, with a population in the metropolitan area of more than 1 million. And there’s more. Nestled in the central basin of Tennessee and rimmed by wooded hills, Middle Tennessee offers caving, rock climbing, and spectacular hiking, as well as fishing, boating, and water sports on area lakes.

Plan to attend the 2004 Structures Congress during spring in Nashville – a great time of year to visit!
