COPRI congratulates E. Douglas Sethness, P.E., D.PE, M.ASCE as the 2010 Kenneth M. Childs, Jr. Practitioner’s Award recipient. As a leader and manager, Doug Sethness has used innovative solutions and state-of-the-art technology to successfully execute port and harbor projects, while providing the profession with “lessons learned”. His sustained contributions to COPRI and its Ports and Harbors Committee have been instrumental to their growth and success. The Kenneth M. Childs, Jr. Practitioner's Award was established in 2005 in honor of Kenny Childs, and is designed to recognize design and construction practicing engineers employed in the marine engineering profession with demonstrated leadership and/or achievement in harbor and coastal projects. The award is made to members of the American Society of Civil Engineers who are judged to have attained significant professional achievement, by the degree to which the candidates have shown: service to the advancement of the marine engineering profession and evidence of technical competence, high character, and integrity.
