Standard Uses of the ASCE Logotype

Logos

The ASCE Logotype
The ASCE logotype was designed to represent our organization's vision of worldwide leadership and excellence in civil engineering. The letters are spaced for maximum legibility at any size. The letterforms are based on a bold, modern, italic typeface. The crossmember of the letter A is a unique element that adds a sense of motion and energy. The result is a dynamic, contemporary and proprietary symbol for ASCE.

The logotype must always be accompanied by the full name of the society (the signature), with the exception of some promotional merchandise and secondary and subsequent uses within a single publication (see "Non-Standard Uses").

The Shield Emblem
The American Society of Civil Engineers has a shield that dates from the Society's origin. The present ASCE shield has been modified from its original form in the following manner: the typeface has been changed and repositioned for easier legibility, the type was set in a more modern face, the word "Founded" was dropped, and the text within the shield was repositioned for better legibility.
