Award for Local Section/Branch/Chapter
EWRI awards outstanding ASCE Section or Branch Environmental and/or Water Resource Technical Groups or EWRI Chapters for exemplary performance. For further details on this award and application procedures, contact Council Chair Edra Brashear at email@example.com.
Previous winners of the Local Section/Branch/Chapter Awards include:
2005 East Central Florida
2007 Kansas City
2011 East Central Florida
In 2010, EWRI and ASCE has taken the opportunity to streamline the affiliation process. Whereas the procedure previously required four steps to achieve Chapter status, the requirements have since been condensed to a single page Memorandum of Understanding (MOU). The MOU form can be found by clicking here. Once you have completed the form, with the exception of the section titled "Environmental & Water Resources Institute of ASCE" (the sections beyond the "By" and "Title" areas are to be completed by the proposing group and their respective Section Representative.
The completed form should be emailed to firstname.lastname@example.org.
The Council is in the process of developing a Speakers Bureau. Its purpose is to provide resources to local groups by identifying presenters who are willing to travel, if necessary, and present to local groups, depending on the arrangements between the group and the presenter. The current focus is authors of ASCE/EWRI publications. The Council beta tested this concept in Chicago by having the editor of ASCE's Guide for Best Management Practice (BMP) Selection in Urban Developed Areas attend a dinner meeting to discuss this publication. Arrangements were made by the local group. The cost was $60, which included dinner, the manual, and paid the presenter's expenses. If your group is interested in this or other presentations, please contact Cheryl Signs at email@example.com. Please see Books & Journals to view a listing of EWRI publications.
The Council will be emailing news and updates about the Council and EWRI to the local contacts listed below. This should keep you current on Council activities and inform you about resource opportunities that it offers.
We are always interested in adding members to our Council. The time commitment is generally one annual meeting and several conference calls per year. Formulating the Council's direction is developing so we're looking for members who bring new ideas and enthusiasm. One of the benefits of council membership is the opportunity to receive partial funding for travel related expenses connected with council meetings. If you are interested, please contact EWRI at firstname.lastname@example.org
Many of the local groups have interesting approaches, unique programs, and/or unusual issues. We hope that you could take the time to share your particular situation so that other groups can learn from or help with the issue. If you are interested in a message board, please contact Cheryl Signs by emailing email@example.com. In order to promote contact between local groups, the chairs and their contact information are listed below. If someone is listed who shouldn't be, please let us know by contacting Cheryl Signs. Please also tell us who should be listed.
If you have any additional questions regarding the Section & Branch Council and its activities, please contact EWRI at firstname.lastname@example.org. If you would like to start or sustain a local Environmental and/or Water Resources Technical Group, click here for more information.
