What is the purpose of the Campaign?
The purpose of 2002: Building The Future is two-fold. 1) To fund national and community public awareness programs in conjunction with ASCE's 150th anniversary in 2002; and 2) To create an Innovation Fund for ASCE's research affiliate, the Civil Engineering Research Foundation (CERF).
Why support ASCE's 150th anniversary programs?
The 150th anniversary programs are designed to promote and extend the legacy that is our Society, its members, and the profession. Not only will ASCE recognize its own rich heritage, but it will work especially to elevate the public's understanding and appreciation of the entire profession's contributions to the world we know today.
Why create an Innovation Fund for CERF?
It is necessary to ensure that CERF continues to provide leadership, direction, and an organizational structure to expedite the movement of innovation into practice for the civil engineering, construction, and environmental community worldwide.
What is the goal of the Campaign?
The Campaign has a minimum goal of $6 million.
What is the ASCE Foundation?
The ASCE Foundation was established in 1994 to generate resources for the civil engineering profession.
Does the Campaign accept pledges?
Yes. Pledges may be paid over a four year period and payments may be scheduled according to the wishes of the donor.
May a gift or pledge be split between the two Campaign programs?
Yes. At the discretion of the donor, a gift or pledge may be directed to either or both campaign programs. These gifts may be divided using increments of 5%, i.e., 75%-25%, 65%-35%,
60%-40%, 55%-45%, etc.
Will the Campaign accept gifts other than cash?
Yes. Gifts of appreciated securities can be transferred immediately to the Foundation. Other gifts such as real estate, art work, jewelry, etc., must first be discussed.
How will my gift be recognized by the Campaign?
All gifts of $1,500 or greater will be recognized on a donor wall established at ASCE's world headquarters in Reston, VA.
Are there different gift recognition levels established by the Campaign?
Yes. The gift recognition levels are as follows:
| Titanium: | $500,000 and greater |
| Platinum: | $250,000 – | $499,999 |
| Gold: | $100,000 – | $249,999 |
| Silver: | $ 50,000 – | $ 99,999 |
| Copper: | $ 25,000 – | $ 49,999 |
| Bronze: | $ 10,000 – | $ 24,999 |
| Brass: | $ 5,000 – | $ 9, 999 |
| Pewter: | $ 1,500 – | $ 4,999 |
Are gifts to the Campaign tax-deductible?
All gifts are tax-deductible to the fullest extent of the law in the United States as the ASCE Foundation is a 501(c)(3) charitable organization under IRS Code.
How long will the Campaign last?
The Campaign is expected to culminate at the November 2002 annual ASCE Conference & Exposition in Washington, D.C. which will mark ASCE's 150th anniversary.
