What should I include in my Session Proposal?

This is an outline of points you should include in your session proposal document.
This is not a template or formatting guide.

Make sure you understand the two-step process for uploading Traditional Session proposals to the Paper Management System (PMS).

Your Session Proposal should include:

Session Title
 

Moderator Information, including

  • Name with Credentials (e.g. – P.E., Ph.D., M.ASCE)
  • Company
  • and working e-mail address

Which topics in the PMS is this paper being submitted to?
 
Is this Session Proposal sponsored by a committee? List committee name or names.
 
What type of session is this?

Include a Short Description (250- 500 words) of what will be discussed during the 90 minute Program.
The Short Description should address the following questions:

  • Is this topic of regional, national, or international interest?
  • Who is the target audience? Please be specific. For example, is the target audience:
    University faculty? If so, what discipline?
    Design professionals? - If yes, what specialty?
    Code developers? If so what type?
    Construction management professionals? If so, what type of construction?
    Other? – If so, who? What discipline and what level of employment?
  • How will the audience be able to use what they learn in the Session?  For example,
    How will this help the audience in their job?
    Is this research that other faculty could use to expand their research or teaching?
    Does this provide a practical solution to a problem that could simplify or make a designer’s job more efficient?
    Will it improve the accuracy of a design, or provide new information to assist in a design problem?
    List all other benefits.

List the Titles of the Abstracts or Presentations that will be connected to this session.
Include the names, credentials, and contact information for all authors and the presenting speaker.
(Note – no more than 5 abstracts will be approved for a 90 minute program.)

Is this session organized by another organization? Please identify organization.
