ASCE GOVERNANCE RESTRUCTURINGSince 1853, when the Board of Direction of the American Society of Civil Engineers met for the first time, the board has been charged with setting a direction for the Society, allocating resources, and establishing policies to guide the organization and serve the membership and the profession.Today, ASCE membership has grown to include more than 137,000 civil engineers worldwide. As the Society has grown and changed, so has its board. In 2004, ASCE members approved a constitutional amendment that streamlined representation, added Institute and At-Large Directors, and created a regional board structure. ASCE is now in the process of finalizing how the new structure will be phased into operation. This site is dedicated to providing information and facilitating member input during the ongoing implementation of our new governance structure. |
