Robert W. Stokes, Ph.D.


Robert W. Stokes, Ph.D., received a bachelor's degree in general engineering from Antioch College, masters' degrees in civil engineering and city and regional planning from The Ohio State University, and his doctorate in urban and regional science from Texas A&M University. Currently, Stokes is a professor of civil engineering and an adjunct professor in regional and community planning at Kansas State University. He teaches both undergraduate and graduate-level classes in highway design, transportation planning, land development, traffic engineering and engineering economics. Prior to joining the university's faculty in 1991, Stokes was a program manager for the Urban Mobility Program at Texas A&M University's Texas Transportation Institute (TTI). An active ASCE member, Stokes has served as the faculty advisor for the Kansas State University ASCE student chapter, chair of ASCE's Committee on Student Activities and president of the Kansas Section. Stokes is also a charter member of ASCE's Transportation and Development Institute.
